Preview: West Columbus Vikings vs. Tarboro Vikings
West Columbus has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Tarboro Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Columbus' defense has only allowed 8.8 points per game this season, so Tarboro's offense will have their work cut out for Tarboro.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but West Columbus had no problem doing just that on Friday. They secured a 21-16 W over the Tigers.
West Columbus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Unique Kelly, who threw for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Bellamy, who gained 79 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Tarboro put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 20-13 victory over East Bladen. The score was all tied up 13-13 at the break, but Tarboro was the (much) better team in the second half.
Tarboro relied on the efforts of Mason Satterfield, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and Kamerin Mcdowell-moore, who rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Mcdowell-moore hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games.
West Columbus' victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.8 points per game. As for Tarboro, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as West Columbus and Tarboro haven't had much trouble getting there this season. West Columbus commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.4 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Tarboro struggles in that department as they've been even better at 6.2 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
