2021 Underclass MaxPreps All-America Team: Dylan Lesko, Max Clark, Bryce Rainer headline high school baseball's best young players

Dylan Lesko of Buford (Ga.), Max Clark of Franklin Community (Ind.) and Bryce Rainer, Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.) claimed top honors on the MaxPreps Underclass Baseball All-America Teams, recognizing the top 30 juniors, sophomores and freshmen from the 2021 season.

Lesko had the Wolves at No. 1 in the MaxPreps Top 25 for most of the season as he posted an 11-0 record with 112 strikeouts in 60 innings pitched. Lesko was a first team MaxPreps All-America selection and Gatorade recently named his its national player of the year.

Clark is the only sophomore to earn state player of the year honors from Gatorade this year. He dominated at the plate and on the mound as he had 120 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched while batting .450.

Rainer earned Newcomer of the Year honors by the Los Angeles Daily News after helping to lead Harvard-Westlake to a Southern Section Division 1 championship. He boasted a 9-0 record in his freshman season and also batted .392.



Each of the three underclass MaxPreps All-America Teams is comprised of 30 players.

One of the top ranked players in the Class of 2022, he was a big reason Buford was ranked No. 1 for most of the season. He posted an 11-0 record with a 0.35 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 60 innings. He was the Gatorade State Player of the Year and an all-state selection by the Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine.

P — Jackson Ferris, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)

Tossed a no-hitter in his first outing and followed it up with a perfect game. Had three of the biggest wins of the season, beating Baylor, Jesuit and Calvary Christian Academy. He finished the season 8-0 with a 0.55 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 50.2 innings.



P — Brock Porter, St. Mary Prep (Orchard Lake, Mich.)
6-4, 205
The top pitcher for the Division 2 state champions, he had a 12-0 record and posted 127 strikeouts and a 0.56 ERA in 62.2 innings.

P — JD Thompson, Rusk (Texas)
6-0, 180
Led the nation in strikeouts with 194 in 99.2 innings for the Eagles, who lost in the Class 4A state championship game to Pleasant Grove. Thompson has committed to play at Vanderbilt. He also went 13-1 with a 0.35 ERA.

P — Isaac Sewell, The First Academy (Orlando, Fla.)
6-1, 210
Led the nation in wins going 14-0 for the Class 3A state champions. He also had 112 strikeouts and a 1.13 ERA in 87 innings. He was named the all-area player of the year by the Orlando Sentinel.

P — Jacob Miller, Liberty Union (Baltimore, Ohio)
6-2, 180
Miller earned all-state honors from the Ohio Baseball Coaches Association and was co-pitcher of the year by Prep Baseball Report. He went 9-1 with 143 strikeouts in just 60 innings pitch to go with a 0.70 ERA.

P — Nazier Mule, Passaic County Tech (Wayne, N.J.)

A second team all-state selection by NJ.com, he batted .359 with nine doubles and three home runs and was also solid on the mound with 64 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched.

P — Landon Price, Lincolnview (Van Wert, Ohio)
5-10, 180
The Ohio Baseball Coaches Association named him the Division IV player of the year. He was 11-0 with 144 strikeouts and gave up two earned runs all season.



P — Wyatt Danilowicz, Traverse City West (Traverse City, Mich.)
6-1, 215
Named all-state by the Michigan Baseball Coaches Association, he was one of the leading strikeout pitchers in the nation with 170. He also went 8-2 with a 0.40 ERA in 70.2 innings.

P — Brennan Phillips, Owasso (Okla.)
6-1, 170
One of the top pitchers in the Midwest this year, posting 144 strikeouts in 63 innings. He was All-World by the Tulsa World and had a high mark of 20 strikeouts in one game.

C — Malcolm Moore, McClatchy (Sacramento, Calif.)

The Sacramento Bee All-Metro Player of the Year batted .535 with 55 RBI, 46 runs scored and seven home runs.

C — Jared Jones, Walton (Marietta, Ga.)

Earned all-state honors from Georgia Dugout Preview and was all-area by the Marietta Daily Journal. He batted .432 with 20 runs, 30 RBI, seven doubles and nine home runs.

C — Ike Irish, St. Mary Prep (Orchard Lake, Mich.)

Came on strong in the last half of the season, blasting 11 home runs with 12 doubles and 50 RBI. He earned all-state honors by the coaches association and Michigan Live. He batted .427 with 48 runs scored.

1B — Brady Birchmeier, New Lothrop (Mich.)
6-3, 230
A Division III all-state player, he was one of the top home run hitters in the Class of 2022. He batted .595 with 15 home runs, a nation-best 26 doubles, 72 runs scored and 76 RBI.



1B — Yoel Tejeda Jr, North Broward Prep (Coconut Creek, Fla.)
6-6, 205
The Player of the Year in Broward County by the High School Baseball Network. He went 5-0 with 55 strikeouts and a 0.76 ERA and he also batted .383 with 13 doubles, 24 runs, 28 RBI and two home runs.

IF — Owen Muphy, Riverside-Brookfield (Riverside, Ill.)
6-1, 190
Earned player of the year honors in Illinois from Prep Baseball Report after dominating on the mound and at the plate. Hit .453 with six doubles, four triples and nine home runs. He also drove in 32 runs and scored 28. As a pitcher, Murphy was 6-1 with 97 strikeouts and a 0.33 ERA in 42.1 innings.

IF — Termarr Johnson, Mays (Atlanta)
5-10, 175
A member of Team USA 15U that won a gold medal two years ago, Johnson was dominant as a junior. While the Raiders struggled to win games, Johnson was outstanding at the plate while batting over .400 with eight home runs.

IF — Jason Torres, Miami Springs (Fla.)
6-2, 215
Named to the All-Dade County team by the High School Sports Network, Torres batted .521 with 43 RBI, 26 runs scored, 11 doubles and nine home runs.

IF — Paxton Kling, Central (Martinsburg, Pa.)
6-2, 195
Was the driving force behind the Dragon's strong season as he batted .482 with 53 runs scored, 39 RBI, six doubles and six home runs.

IF — Cam Cannarella, Hartsville (S.C.)

The co-player of the year by the South Carolina Coaches Association. He batted .457 with five doubles, four triples and two home runs and 28 RBI while also striking out 61 batters with a 0.15 ERA.



IF — Cole Young, North Allegheny (Wexford, Pa.)

Named player of the year in the WPIAL by the Post Gazette after leading the Tigers to the state championship game. He batted .437 with 33 runs, 23 RBI, four doubles, four triples and six home runs.

OF — Jake Dresselhouse, St. Mary Prep (Orchard Lake, Mich.)
5-11, 170
Batted cleanup for the Eaglets, who finished ranked second in the MaxPreps Top 25 while winning a Division 2 state championship. He earned all-state honors by the coaches association and Michigan Live while batting .416 with 62 RBI and 14 home runs.

OF — Roman Anthony, Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Fla.)

Named the Sun Sentinel's large school player of the year after leading the Eagles to a Class 7A state championship. He batted .362 with 32 runs, 21 RBI, six doubles and five home runs.

OF — Druw Jones, Wesleyan (Norcross, Ga.)
6-3, 180
The son of MLB All-Star Andruw Jones and one of the top prospects in the Class of 2021, he was named offensive player of the year by the Gwinnett Daily Post. He also earned all-state honors by the Georgia Dugout Preview magazine. He batted .445 with 39 RBI, 58 runs, seven doubles and 16 home runs.

OF — Elijah Green, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)
6-3, 225
Considered the top prospect in the Class of 2022 by Perfect Game, Green helped the Ascenders to a 23-2 record while batting .321 with 26 runs, 21 RBI, seven doubles and six home runs.

OF — Nolan Schubart, St. Mary's Prep (Orchard Lake, Mich.)
6-6, 210
Yet another all-state selection for the Eaglets, Schubart batted .393 with 55 runs, 54 RBI, eight doubles, four triples and nine home runs.



OF — Riley Stanford, Buford (Ga.)
6-4, 225
Earned All-County honors by the Gwinnett County Post and was also all-state by Georgia Dugout Preview. He batted .366 with 36 RBI, four home runs, nine doubles and 26 runs.

OF — Gage Harrelson, Houston County (Warner Robins, Ga.)
6-3, 180
Named co-MVP along with teammate Coleman Willis of Class 6A by Georgia Dugout Preview. He batted .496 with 57 runs, 31 RBI, 14 doubles, five triples and five home runs.

UT — Sal Stewart, Westminster Christian (Miami)
6-3, 215
For much of the season, Stewart was the state's top home run hitter. He led the Warriors to the Class 3A state championship game while knocking 17 home runs and batting .534 with 44 runs scored and 40 RBI.

UT — Korbyn Dickerson, Trinity (Louisville, Ky.)
6-2, 182
One of the top hitters for a Trinity team that won the Kentucky state championship. He batted .412 with 46 runs, 49 RBI, 12 doubles, five triples and 12 home runs. He earned all-state honors by the state coaches association.

UT — Robby Snelling, McQueen (Reno, Nev.)
6-3, 210
One of the top football-baseball athletes in the nation, he batted .433 with 27 runs, 24 RBI, and eight home runs for the Lancers.

The ace on the staff for the Class 7A state champions. He was the player of the year for High School Baseball Network after going 8-0 with a 1.03 ERA and 114 strikeouts in 61 innings.



P — Dylan Loy, Pigeon Forge (Tenn.)

All-MidState by the Tennessean and he led the state in strikeouts with 164. He also had a 13-1 record and a 0.42 ERA in 82.2 innings.

P — Jacob Hudson, Valley Christian (San Jose, Calif.)

Landed on the Bay Area Media All-Bay Area Team after going 8-1 with 83 strikeouts and a 1.985 ERA in 61 innings.

P — Parker Hutyra, Birdville (North Richland Hills, Texas)

The Newcomer of the Year by the Dallas Morning News. He posted an 8-4 record with 113 strikeouts and a 1.54 ERA in 79 innings.

P — Ben Schild, Middletown South (Middletown, N.J.)

A nominee for state pitcher of the year by NJ.com and a member of the all-state team. He went 8-0 with 55 strikeouts and a 0.95 ERA in 35 innings .

Hembree was named to the all-state team by Georgia Dugout Preview.

P — Ryan Piech, Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio)

Made the all-state team in Ohio by Prep Baseball Report after helping Warriors reach the state semifinals. Piech was 10-2 on the season with a 0.87 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 56.1 innings.



P — Ty Wisdom, Liberty North (Liberty, Mo.)

Batted .402 with 39 runs scored and he also had a 5-0 record with 39 strikeouts. He earned a spot on the Missouri Baseball Coaches Association all-state team.

P — Garrett Baumann, Hagerty (Oviedo, Fla.)

Made the all-area team by the Orlando Sentinel. He had a 8-1 record with a 0.79 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 71 innings.

P — Dylan Lonergan, Brookwood (Snellville, Ga.)
6-2, 210
Earned all-state honors by Georgia Dugout Preview and all-county honors by the Gwinnet Daily Post. He went 7-1 on the mound with a 1.40 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 50 innings.

C — Stone Lawless, Huntsville (Ala.)
6-3, 205
Made the all-state second team by the Alabama Sports Writers Association as he batted .392 with 15 doubles and 31 RBI.

C — Zion Rose, Brother Rice (Chicago)
6-1, 190
Named to the All-Daily Southtown Team, Rose batted .390 with 32 runs, eight doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI.

C — Ryder Helfrick, Clayton Valley Charter (Concord, Calif.)

Made the All-East Bay team after hitting .522 with nine doubles, six triples, and five home runs. He also had 32 runs and 14 RBI.



1B — David DeHoyos, Smithson Valley (Spring Branch, Texas)

Helped Rangers to the Class 6A state tournament and earned a spot on the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association all-state team and the Express-News all-area team. He batted .432 with 28 RBI, four triples and six doubles.

1B — Bryce Eldridge, Madison (Vienna, Va.)
6-8, 218
Hit seven home runs among his first 12 hits of the season. He earned all-state honors by Prep Baseball Report and he batted .543 with nine home runs, 29 RBI and 26 runs.

IF — Cami Collier, Mount Paran Christian (Kennesaw, Ga.)
6-2, 210
The Class 1A Private state player of the year by the Georgia Dugout Club and the Marietta Daily Journal Player of the Year, Collier batted .434 for the state champions while clubbing 13 home runs with 40 RBI. He also pitched and struck out 76 batters with a 0.71 ERA.

IF — Braden Holcomb, Foundation Academy (Winter Garden, Fla.)

One of the top infield prospects in the Class of 2023, he earned all-county honors by High School Baseball Network after batting .431 with 35 runs, 33 RBI, four doubles and eight home runs.

Made the All-Dade County team by the High School Baseball Network. He batted .673 with 35 runs, 37 RBI, 15 doubles and four home runs.

An All-East Bay Team pick by East Bay Media as he helped Mitty reach the Central Coast Section championship game. He batted .441 with 30 runs and 19 RBI.



IF — Dylan Cupp, Cedartown (Ga.)

A first team all-state selection by Georgia Dugout Preview and all-county by the Rome News Tribune. He batted .405 with 19 RBI and 38 stolen bases.

IF — Ryne Farber, Johnson (San Antonio)

Farber was the Newcomer of the Year by the San Antonio Express News after batting .358 with seven doubles, three triples and two home runs to go with 25 stolen bases.
OF — Max Clark, Franklin Community (Franklin, Ind.)

The only sophomore to win Gatorade state player of the year honors, Clark batted .450 with 34 runs, 30 RBI, three doubles, three triples and six home runs. He also had a 6-0 record on the mound with 120 strikeouts and a 0.84 ERA in 50 innings.

Made the all-state team by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. He went .352 at the plate with eight doubles, five home runs and 31 RBI.

OF — Tayshaun Walton, Maury (Norfolk, Va.)

Earned all-state honors from Prep Baseball Report. In 11 games played, Walton batted .394 with 22 runs, 23 RBI, three doubles, three triples and four home runs.

OF — Owen Egan, Yucaipa (Calif.)
6-1, 198
An All-Southern Section Division 1 selection, Egan went 4-1 with 47 strikeouts in 38.1 innings. He also batted .384 with 31 runs, 26 RBI, 11 doubles and a home run.



OF — Jake Kulikowski, Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.)
6-0, 185
A standout in the outfield for the Tigers, batted .333 with 21 runs, 26 RBI, four doubles, three triples and five home runs.

OF — Brayden Sharp, The Woodlands (Texas)

The Newcomer of the Year in the Houston Chronicle after batting .304 with 26 runs, 19 RBI, eight doubles and a home run. He also had an 8-5 record with a 1.11 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 69.2 innings.

UT — Aidan Miller, Mitchell (New Port Richey, Fla.)

Ranks among the top players in the Class of 2023 by Perfect Game. He batted .402 with 38 runs, 22 RBI, 10 doubles, five triples and four home runs. He also had a 2-0 record with 44 strikeouts in 24.2 innings.

UT — Josh Tiedemann, Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.)

Earned all-state honors after helping the Huskies reach the Class 6A semifinals. He batted .417 with 22 runs, 22 RBI, nine doubles and three home runs and on the mound he went 5-0 with 19 strikeouts in 21.2 innings.

UT — Wes Mendes, Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.)

Mendes was a key member of the Tigers' season-long run at the top of the MaxPreps Top 25 rankings. He's one of the top-ranked players in the Class of 2023 by Perfect Game. He batted .348 with 22 RBI, six doubles and two home runs.

Earned all-state honors by the Deseret News as a two-way player. He batted .321 with 21 runs, 20 RBI, five doubles and four home runs. He also had a 1-1 record with 33 strikeouts in 36.1 innings.

Earned a spot on the Class 4A all-state team by the Kansas Baseball Coaches Association.

One of the top freshman pitchers in Ohio, LaFine was honorable mention all-Ohio by Prep Baseball Report with 56 strikeouts and a 2.10 ERA in 40 innings.

Caldwell was a key player for Eagles, who reached the Class B state finals.

Purvis earned all-conference honors after helping the Tigers to the state finals.

P — Landon Victorian, Barbe (Lake Charles, La.)

An important part of Barbe's run toward a MaxPreps National Championship as he posted a 4-0 record with a 1.95 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 28.2 innings. He also threw a no-hitter.

P — Carson Smith, North Jackson (Stevenson, Ala.)
5-7, 170
Earned all-state honors by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. He posted a 9-3-1 record while striking out 63 batters in 55 innings.

C — PJ Morlando, Summerville (S.C.)
6-2, 180
Chosen to the all-state team by the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association, Morlando batted .393 with 29 RBI, 34 runs, nine doubles and three home runs.

C — Burke-Lee Mabeus, Coronado (Henderson, Nev.)

Named to the All-Southern Nevada team, Mabeus batted .526 with 10 runs, 11 RBI, seven doubles and three home runs.

C — Hunter Carns, First Coast (Jacksonville, Fla.)

Earned All-First Coast honors by the Florida Times Union as he batted .453 with 12 doubles, two home runs, four triples and 16 RBI.



1B — Caleb Hoover, Rockwall-Heath (Rockwall, Texas)

Hoover earned all-district honors while helping the Hawks win a Class 6A state championship. He batted .322 on the season.

1B — Jake Hanley, Mason (Ohio)

Earned a spot on the Prep Baseball Report Ohio all-state team. He batted .432 with seven doubles, two triples and a home run. He also scored 20 runs and drove in 29.
IF — Bryce Rainer, Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.)

Regarded as one of the top prospects in the Class of 2024, he was Newcomer of the Year by the Los Angeles Daily News after helping the Wolverines win the Southern Section Division 1 championship. He batted .392 with 13 RBI and also went 9-0 with 74 strikeouts and a 1.46 ERA in 55.2 innings.
