Video: Longest high school football win streaks
Eleven teams have won more than 31 games straight entering 2019.
Since the start of the 2015 season, the
Caledonia (Minn.) Warriors have outscored opponents 2,203-399.
They've recorded 16 shutouts, including a 21-0 win over Barnsville in last year's state Class AA title game, and been involved in one game decided by a touchdown or less, a 34-27 triumph over Triton on Sept. 8, 2017.
Caledonia enters the 2019 season with the nation's longest winning streak at 54 and with coach Carl Fruechte back in place, the Warriors seem a good bet to win their fifth straight state title and 11th overall.
But nothing is for certain, as we learned last season.
The top five winning streaks heading into 2018 were all snapped, including the top streak of 70 by Kimberly (Wis.), which lost its season opener.
Caledonia would need another seven seasons of perfection to approach the national record of De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), which rattled off 151 straight victories from 1992 through 2003.
