Video: Nation's home run leaderWatch Ballard's Jordon Adell hit one of his 25 home runs.
MaxPreps continues its preview of the 2017 MLB draft, which is scheduled for June 12, with a look at the top 10 high school outfielders.
Top 10 outfielders
Jordon Adell, Ballard (Louisville, Ky.)This is a good year for power-hitting prep outfielders and Adell is far and away the best of the bunch. The Kentucky phenom hit a national-best 25 home runs, which was nearly 10 more than the second-best hitter. He batted .562 with 61 RBIs and a 1.437 slugging percentage. He has a strong arm, throwing in the mid-90s, and he also is extremely fast.
Potential selection: Early first round
Calvin Mitchell, Rancho Bernardo (San Diego)Mitchell earned high grades for his hitting ability, while his arm and fielding ability are above average. He hit only .369 this year, but had 11 home runs and a .747 slugging percentage. Originally seen as a first round pick, Mitchell could fall to the second round.
Potential selection: Late first round, second round
Drew Waters, Etowah (Woodstock, Ga.)Waters was one of the rising prospects this year, emerging as one of the nation's top hitters while leading Etowah to a state championship. He hit .510 with 15 home runs and 13 doubles.
Potential selection: Late first round
Austin Beck, North Davidson (Lexington, N.C.)Another prep outfielder who is on the rise, Beck has a strong arm and good speed, but his real talent is at the plate. Scouts like his approach along with his bat speed. He batted .590 this year with 12 home runs, including three in his final game of the season.
Potential selection: Late first round
Conner Uselton, Southmoore (Moore, Okla.)At 6-3, 215 pounds, Uselton has a strong build and is seen as a potential five-tool player. He is especially accomplished at the plate where he can hit for average and power. He has the arm and speed to play any outfield position.
Potential selection: Late first round
Potential first round draft picks include Calvin Mitchell, Mark Vientos, Hans Crouse, Hunter Greene and Joe Perez.

Cole Turney, Fort Bend Travis (Richmond, Texas)Turney began the season as the top overall player in Texas. He has dipped some in the eyes of the scouts, but still ranks as one of the top outfielders in the country. He has a medium build at 6-0, but is seen as a player with the ability to throw and defend in the outfield, while also providing power at the plate.
Potential selection: High second round
Bubba Thompson, McGill-Toolen (Mobile, Ala.)Thompson's stock has been rising and could go anywhere from the middle of the first round to somewhere in the second. He has speed and power to play center field at the next level. He .429 with 11 home runs and scored 52 runs.
Potential selection: High second round
Garrett Mitchell, Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.)Mitchell should go high due to his speed and defensive ability, but he's not likely to hit for power. He didn't have a round-tripper as a prep and also hit under .300 for the second straight year, batting .294. Mitchell also has diabetes, but has been able to play with the disease while in high school.
Potential selection: Third round
Kyle Jacobsen, Allatoona (Acworth, Ga.)A player with medium build, the 6-0, 185-pound Georgian showed improved power this year while leading Allatoona deep into the playoffs. He doubled his home run total from last year with eight and he batted .475 with 43 RBIs.
Potential selection: Third round
Jacob Pearson, West Monroe (La.)A strong senior season has moved Pearson up the draft ranks. He helped lead West Monroe to a 38-3 record while batting .519 with 12 home runs and 53 runs scored.
