The 2017 national high school baseball season is complete and the Shawnee (Okla.) Wolves are officially the MaxPreps National Champions.
Shawnee finished the season with the best record in the nation at 40-0 and will take a 52-game win streak into next season after winning its third straight Oklahoma Class 5A state championship. The Wolves had some of the top players in the nation as well, with
Jake Taylor being selected in the Major League Baseball draft last week and two others among the national statistical leaders.
Eli Davis led the nation in runs while
Tanner Sparks led in RBI.
Shawnee was one of a handful of teams that finished the season undefeated. Cathedral (Indianapolis) joined that list with a victory in the Indiana Class 4A state finals. The Fighting Irish end the season at 29-0 and ranked No. 11.
The only other team still playing last week was Saline (Mich.), which won the Michigan Division 1 state championship and ends the year ranked No. 10 overall.
