See highlights of the best players in the Sunshine State.The list of famous NFL players who starred as preps in Florida is long, wide and impressive.
Among them from history are prolific rusher Emmitt Smith, Hall of Fame defensive end Jack Youngblood and five-time Pro Bowl receiver Michael Irvin.
Here are the Top 10 current Florida preps from the Class of 2018, according to the
247Sports Composite recruiting rankings.
Note that all rank among the top 52 players in the country and none are quarterbacks.

1. DE — Xavier Thomas, IMG Academy (Bradenton)The 6-foot-3, 263-pounder has already committed to Clemson. He's ranked the No. 2 recruit overall in the country and touts 28 college offers.
2. CB — Patrick Surtain II, American Heritage (Plantation)The 6-2, 181-pounder is the son of the former NFL cornerback by the same name. Surtain has 33 college offers, and LSU and Florida State appear to be his favorites. He's ranked the top cornerback in the country and No. 4 recruit overall.
3. S — Tyreke Johnson, Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville)The 6-1, 191-pounder is ranked the second-best safety in the country and No. 17 recruit overall. He has 25 offers, but where he lands is anyone's guess. Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and UCLA appear to be among his top choices.
4. RB — Lorenzo Lingard, University (Orange City)The 6-foot, 190-pounder has already committed to Miami. He's ranked the second-best running back in the country and No. 22 recruit overall.
5. RB — James Cook, Central (Miami)The younger brother of Dalvin Cook is considered on-par with his brother's talents. Ranked the third-best running back in the country, the Florida State-bound commit is the No. 29 recruit overall, coming in at 6-foot, 181 pounds.
6. RB — T.J. Pledger, IMG Academy (Bradenton)Already committed to Oklahoma, the 5-8, 190-pounder is considered the third-best all-purpose back in the country and is the No. 37 recruit overall.
7. WR — Justin Watkins, East Ridge (Clermont)The 5-11, 172-pounder has already committed to Texas. Ranked the eighth-best receiver in the country, he's the No. 41 recruit overall. Watkins transferred from Vanguard to East Ridge in April, his fourth transfer in high school.
8. OT — William Barnes, ApopkaThe 6-4, 312-pounder has 18 offers, including Auburn, Florida, North Carolina and Ohio State. He's ranked the fourth-best tackle in the country and No. 44 recruit overall.
9. CB — Tyson Campbell, American HeritageThe second secondary athlete from American Heritage on the list, Campbell is a 6-3, 180-pounder who has 22 offers. He's ranked the seventh-best cornerback in the country and No. 45 recruit overall.
10. WR — Jacob Copeland, Escambia (Pensacola)The second receiver on this list, Copeland is ranked the ninth-best wideout in the country and No. 52 recruit overall. He has 31 offers, including Auburn.
