Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla.) ends the season right where it started - at the top of the MaxPreps Small Schools National Football Rankings.
After starting the year ranked No. 1 in the preseason small schools rankings, Trinity Christian Academy suffered losses to Buford (Ga.) and IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) and dropped to No. 5 in the midseason rankings. However, a 27-7 win over American Heritage (Delray Beach, Fla.) in the Class 3A state finals and a 35-21 win over Washington Class 3A state champion Eastside Catholic (Sammamish, Wash.) in the Burger King State Champions Series on Saturday boosted the Conquerors back to the No. 1 spot.
Marion Local (Maria Stein, Ohio), last year's small schools champion, finished No. 2 in this year's rankings while American Heritage comes in at No. 3.
The rankings are based on the
MaxPreps computer rankings.
For the purposes of this list, small schools are those schools which
belong to state enrollment divisions with schools that generally have
fewer than 1,000 students.
