On Friday night, it backed up that claim on the field, as
Jordan Scarlett's three touchdowns led No. 3 St. Thomas Aquinas to a dominant victory over No. 5
American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) 38-7.
Scarlett,
an offseason transfer from University, scored the game's first
touchdown early in the second quarter when he took a hand-off from
quarterback
Jake Rizzo, bounced outside and sprinted down the sideline for a 63-yard score to make it 10-0.
He
added touchdown rushes of two and nine yards in the third quarter. His
third touchdown put the game out of reach, 37-0 in favor of Aquinas.
American Heritage would add a late touchdown from
Torrance Gibson to
Brandon Johnson to prevent the shutout. The loss snapped American Heritage's 14-game winning streak.
St.
Thomas Aquinas will enjoy a bye week before it travels north to take on
Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) in a game that will be played at West Point.
American Heritage will look to rebound against Miramar.
