Bulldog Storylines
* Haskins is a star on the rise in the high school coaching game. Also the athletic director and a special education teacher at Garfield, Haskins has led the Bulldogs to a pair of state titles and six 20-win seasons in his first seven years with the program. Prior to GHS, he as an assistant for nine years at nearby Rainier Beach and helped the Vikings win three state titles.
* Garfield is rich in basketball tradition. The Bulldogs have won 13 state titles dating back to 1955 and produced stars like Will Conroy, Brandon Roy, Chester Simmons and Tony Wroten. Jimi Hendrix and Macklemore also attended the school.
* The Bulldogs went from very good to national championship contender over the summer with the arrival of two big transfers. Davis averaged just under 20 points per game as a sophomore at Lakeside (Seattle) and is regarded as a Top 50 2017 prospect by 247Sports. Brooks started as a freshman for a Seattle Prep team that reached the 3A state tournament and he has been pegged as a Top 25 prospect in the 2018 class.
