See why the IMG Academy tight end is regarded so highly.IMG Academy (Brandenton, Fla.) opens the season at No. 1 in the MaxPreps South Region football computer rankings, just ahead of last year's No. 1 team St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).
A team that wasn't in the final South rankings last year, DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), comes in at No. 3 to start the season, while a third Florida team, Mainland, is No. 4 and South Panola (Batesville, Miss.) is No. 5.
The regional rankings are based on the
MaxPreps Computer Rankings. The South region includes teams from Florida, Tennessee, Maryland, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Washington D.C., Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
