See the nifty glove work coming out of West Virginia last week.A Texas team is still No. 1 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 50 National Baseball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard, but it's no longer Coppell.
The Cowboys, ranked No. 1 for the better part of two months, lost their first game of the season to Trinity (Euless, Texas). However, since Coppell also defeated Trinity during the week, it drops only to No. 4 in this week's rankings.
Lake Travis, which was ranked No. 2 in the state by Texas High School Baseball and No. 3 in the state by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association prior to Coppell's loss, moves up from No. 2 in the Xcellent 50 to the top spot. Deer Park takes over the No. 2 spot while Archbishop McCarthy is No. 3.
Five new teams reached the Xcellent 50 this week, including Providence Catholic (New Lenox, Ill.), St. Laurence (Burbank, Ill.), Jackson (Massillon, Ohio), Greenup County (Greenup, Ky.) and Christian Brothers Academy (Lincroft, N.J.).

1. (last week 2) Lake Travis (Austin, Texas), 22-1-1
The Cavaliers picked up two more wins by beating Lehman (Kyle) 14-2 and Anderson (Austin) 11-2 in district play. Freshman
Brett Baty went 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs to lead Lake Travis past Lehman.
2. (3) Deer Park (Texas), 24-0
There is only one undefeated team left in Texas Class 6A and that's Deer Park. The Deer dominated last week with a 10-0 win over Memorial (Port Arthur) and a 13-1 win over West Brook.
Peyton Sherlin went six innings, struck out eight and allowed one earned run on two hits against West Brook.
Roel Garcia was even better, tossing a five-inning no-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks against Memorial.
3. (4) Archbishop McCarthy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 23-1
The Mavericks finished the regular season with a pair of wins. They topped Western (Davie) 13-6 and Calvary Christian Academy (Fort Lauderdale) 11-3.
Joe Perez had two home runs and
Jake Holland had a grand slam for the Mavericks in the win over Western.
Aj Hendricks went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Holland was 2-for-3 against Calvary Christian Academy.
4. (1) Coppell (Texas), 22-1
The Cowboys suffered their first loss of the season after 21 straight wins, falling to Trinity (Euless) 4-2 on Friday. Coppell had defeated Trinity 2-0 earlier in the week. Coppell bounced back to defeat Belton 5-1 in a non-district game.
John Kodros pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the shutout of Trinity.
5. (6) Providence (Charlotte, N.C.), 18-1
The Panthers scored three wins last week while racking up 45 runs and allowing just one. Providence topped West Mecklenburg (Charlotte) 18-0, Independence (Charlotte) 9-1 and Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology (Charlotte) 18-0. Providence meets Ardrey Kell this week.
6. (7) Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.), 19-1
The Bears claimed a pair of conference games from Central (Fresno), 8-0 and 16-4.
Grant Gambrell tossed a complete game shutout and struck out eight and went 2-for-4 with a home run.
Alex Peralta, meanwhile, went 3-for-3 with a home run. In the 16-4 victory,
Chris Lopez and
Quentin Selma both hit home runs, with Selma going 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.
7. (11) Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Fla.), 20-2
The Eagles completed the regular season with a 9-4 win over Calvary Christian Academy (Fort Lauderdale) and a 3-2 win over Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood).
John McKenna had a double and drove in a pair of runs in the latter game.
8. (12) Rockledge (Fla.), 24-1
The Raiders collected three more wins last week to end the regular season. Rockledge edged Satellite (Satellite Beach) 1-0 and Vierra 5-4 before topping Titusville 10-1.
9. (13) Canterbury (Fort Myers, Fla.), 24-1
Canterbury ended the regular season with a pair of 4-2 wins. The Cougars topped Gulf Coast (Naples) in eight innings and concluded the week with a 4-2 win over IMG Academy Gray (Bradenton).
10. (14) Blessed Trinity (Roswell, Ga.), 22-1
The Titans added three more shutouts to their growing season total, beating Decatur 13-0, North Clayton (College Park) 10-0 and Dunwoody 2-0. Blessed Trinity has 14 shutouts on the season. The Titans topped Marist (Atlanta) 8-2 to end the week.
11. (15) St. Thomas Catholic (Houston), 26-0-1
The Eagles head into the final two weeks of the regular season with just a single tie marring an otherwise perfect record. They claimed three wins last week, beating St. Pius X by scores of 6-1 and 7-2 and also beat Kinkaid (Houston) 4-3.
12. (5) Davis (Calif.), 14-1
The Blue Devils lost their first game of the season, falling to Franklin (Elk Grove) 9-8. Davis had defeated Franklin 10-6 earlier in the week with
Ryan Holgate and
Ryan Kreidler each rapping a pair of doubles and driving in three runs apiece. Davis also defeated Sheldon (Sacramento) 13-4 with
Hunter Jury hitting a triple and knocking in four runs.
13. (18) North Davidson (Lexington, N.C.), 18-1
The Knights took two from R.J. Reynolds (Winston-Salem) last week, winning 4-0 and 11-1.
Cole Beeker threw a complete game and went 3-for-4 on offense in the 4-0 win.
14. (9) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 21-3
The Gaels dropped an eight-inning game to Centennial (Las Vegas), 6-5 last week. Other than the loss, Bishop Gorman was untouchable, beating Arbor View 9-0, Snow Canyon (St. George, Utah) 10-0 and Legacy 5-0.
Brian Coffey pitched a five-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts against Snow Canyon while
Beau Capanna hit two home runs and
Myles Denson had one. Capanna also homered against Arbor View with
Nick Hernandez also hitting one out.
15. (20) West Orange (Winter Garden, Fla.), 22-2
The Warriors culminated the regular season with a 5-4 win over Edgewater and an 11-3 win over Bishop Moore (Orlando).

Nathan Schreckengost all homered against Bishop Moore.
16. (44) Seven Lakes (Katy, Texas), 19-4
The Spartans stayed on top of District 19-6A with a 5-0 win over Katy Taylor and a 3-2 win over Katy.
17. (21) Strake Jesuit (Houston), 19-2-2
The Crusaders kept close to Seven Lakes and moved ahead of Katy in the District 19-6A standings by beating Tompkins (Katy) 3-1 and Katy Taylor 3-2 last week. Big games loom this week against both Seven Lakes and Katy.
18. (22) Orange Lutheran (Calif.), 14-2
The Lancers took three Trinity League games from St. John Bosco (Bellflower), winning 10-2, 5-0 and 2-0.
Chris Burica struck out seven in the 5-0 win while
Aaron Kim hit a home run in the 10-2 victory.
19. (26) Stillwater (Okla.), 22-1
The Pioneers scored a 6-5 win over Fayetteville (Ark.) and a 10-0 victory over Shiloh Christian (Springdale, Ark.) while also taking two from Sapulpa, 2-0 and 10-0.
20. (27) South Caldwell (Hudson, N.C.), 17-1
The Spartans claimed three wins last week, beating Patton (Morganton) 5-0, Hickory 4-1 and Draughn (Valdese) 9-4.
Avery Sisk hit a home run and went 4-for-4 with three RBIs against Draughn.
21. (28) Teurlings Catholic (Lafayette, La.), 27-3
Teurlings Catholic captured three wins last week, including an 8-3 win over defending Class 4A state champion St. Thomas More (Lafayette). The Rebels also beat Beau Chene (Arnaudville) 6-3 and Carencro (Lafayette) 3-0.
22. (29) Westerville Central (Ohio), 12-1
The Warhawks rattled off five wins last week, beating Hilliard Bradley 8-2 and 9-2, Brunswick 15-4 and 10-0 and Canal Winchester 15-5.
Noah West hit a home run against Brunswick in the 15-4 win and went 3-for-4 with a double and triple and five RBIs in the shutout win.
23. (16) University (Orange City, Fla.), 19-2-1
The Titans held off Pine Ridge (Deltona) 3-2, but lost a close one to New Smyrna Beach 2-1 in the final game of the regular season.
Timothy Dixon had a home run against Pine Ridge.
Logan Allen gave up his first run of the season, earned or otherwise, in getting a no-decision against New Smyrna Beach.
24. (10) Johnson (San Antonio), 19-3
The Jaguars split their games last week, topping Roosevelt (San Antonio) 12-3 before falling to New Braunfels 1-0 on Friday.
25. (25) Flanagan (Pembroke Pines, Fla.), 19-4-1
The Falcons blanked Taravella 3-0 in their season finale after tying Park Vista 7-7 earlier in the week.
Nick MacDonald struck out 11 against Taravella.
Ricky Presno went 3-for-4 with two doubles against Park Vista.

The Buccaneers suffered their second-straight loss, falling to Westland Hialeah 5-4 in 10 innings.
27. (30) Klein (Texas), 19-2-1
The Bearkats stayed tied atop District 15-6A with a 9-2 win over Montgomery and a 12-2 win over DeKaney (Spring).
28. (31) Vestavia Hills (Ala.), 24-4
Caden Lemons no-hit Spain Park in a 2-0 win, striking out eight. The Rebels also beat Spain Park 4-2 with
Sonny Potter striking out 12.
29. (41) Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.), 21-3
The
Huskies won three times last week, beating Brophy College Prep
(Phoenix) 9-1, Queen Creek 14-1 and Desert Vista (Phoenix) 13-2. A
previous reported loss to Perry was actually an unfinished game.
30. (33) Cy-Fair (Cypress, Texas), 21-3
Cy-Fair claimed a pair of District 17-6A games, beating Cypress Woods 5-1 and 2-1.
31. (34) Clovis (Calif.), 19-3
The Cougars took two from Clovis East (Clovis) last week, including a 4-3 win in 13 innings. Clovis also won 7-4 earlier in the week.
32. (35) Allatoona (Acworth, Ga.), 21-2
The Buccaneers won four times last week, beating East Paulding (Dallas) 3-0, Paulding County (Dallas) 10-0 and 8-2 and Lithia Springs 17-2.
33. (37) Calallen (Corpus Christi, Texas), 18-2
The Wildcats stayed unbeaten in district play with a 14-3 win over Miller (Corpus Christi) and 11-9 over Gregory-Portland.
34. (38) Walton (Marietta, Ga.), 19-4
The Raiders won their only game of the week, defeating Milton 9-0.
35. (39) Basha (Chandler, Ariz.), 18-4
The Bears topped Corona del Sol (Tempe) 6-4 and Campo Verde (Gilbert) 8-7.
36. (43) Catholic-B.R. (Baton Rouge, La.), 24-5
The Bears won three times, beating St. Amant 4-3 in eight innings, and Dutchtown (Geismar) twice by scores of 7-4 and 3-2.
37. (17) Katy (Texas), 21-3
The Tigers lost for the third time this season, dropping a 3-2 district game to Seven Lakes. Katy won earlier in the week, beating Mayde Creek (Katy) 12-0.
38. (46) Redondo Union (Redondo Beach, Calif.), 18-0
The Sea Hawks defeated Inglewood twice by forfeit and downed Santa Monica 13-1.
39. (19) Mira Costa (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), 15-3
The Mustangs split their league games with Palos Verdes (Palos Verdes Estates), winning 2-1 and falling 4-2. Mira Costa also defeated Golden Valley (Santa Clarita) 2-0 in the Chatsworth Tournament.
40. (23) Huntington Beach (Calif.), 14-7
The Oilers have had trouble with Marina (Huntington Beach) all season long. Marina has defeated the Oilers 5-2 and 2-1 to account for three of Huntington Beach's seven losses on the season.
41. (24) JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), 14-5
The Lions took two out of three from Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita) in Trinity League play, winning 10-2 and 7-6 and losing 12-4.
42. (45) St. Rita (Chicago), 13-2
St. Rita notched five wins, beating De La Salle 19-5, De Paul Prep 9-0, Bishop McNamara 13-2, St. Joseph's 8-0 and Marist. The only loss of the week was 6-3 to Montini.
43. (47) East (Shawnee Mission, Kan.), 9-0
The Lancers won three times, beating Northwest (Olathe) 11-1, Rockhurst (Kansas City, Mo.) 8-4 and Lee's Summit West (Lee's Summit, Mo.) 7-0.
44. (48) Malvern Prep (Pa.), 14-1
The Friars won four times, beating Haverford School 9-4, Germantown Academy 3-2, St. Augustine Prep 2-1 and Bishop Eustace 10-0.
45. (49) Staley (Kansas City, Mo.), 17-1
Staley won the Columbia Tournament, beating Hallsville 12-2, Warrenton 8-2, Battle 7-1, Hickman 9-3 and Helias Catholic 11-1.
46. (NR) Christian Brothers Academy (Lincroft, N.J.), 9-1
CBA is ranked No. 1 in the state by NJ.com.

St. Laurence's only losses are both to Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas).

Providence Catholic had a strong weekend with wins over Marist, Bishop McNamara and Montini.

The Musketeers have wins against teams from five states.
