Video: New Top 25 Rankings
See our breakdown of the movement in this week's rankings. With several key states getting started over the weekend, high school football is officially back. With it come the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings.
No. 1 De La Salle, which opens its season this weekend with a game in Texas against Dallas-area power Trinity (Euless), remains at No. 1, where it debuted when the rankings were released in June.
The most notable movement is the fall of IMG Academy, from No. 6 to No. 25, as the result of a loss to American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.).
The game was technically a scrimmage, but it leaves IMG on the fringe of the Top 25 and has American Heritage poised to crack the rankings.
Archer, Chandler, Bingham and Oxford all impressed in their openers, as did Mallard Creek, which dominated Independence and has the look of a potential Top 5 team.
