See the Oak Ridge infielder in actionDefending national champion Barbe (Lake Charles, La.) makes its first appearance in the Xcellent 50 National Baseball Rankings for the first time since the first rankings of the year after winning the Louisiana Class 5A state championship over Catholic (Baton Rouge, La.).
Barbe, with a 34-10 record, defeated previous No. 8 Sulphur 4-3 in the semifinals before capturing the state title. The championship is the second in a row for the Buccaneers, who enter the rankings at No. 29.
Two other state champions who joined the rankings this week include Archbishop McCarthy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Owasso (Okla.). Archbishop McCarthy captured the Florida Class 5A state championship over Mosley (Lynn Haven) while Owasso won the Oklahoma Class 6A state title. Archbishop McCarthy joins the rankings at No. 22 while Owasso is No. 47.
Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) remained at No. 1 while Park Vista (Lake Worth, Fla.) moved up to No. 2 after playoff losses by Olympia (Orlando, Fla.) and Dallas Jesuit (Texas).

1. (last week 1) Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.), 30-2
Parkview dropped Etowah 4-2 and 3-2 to advance to the Class 6A semifinals, where it will play Pope (Marietta).
Austin Biggar had a home run in the 4-2 win while
Brandon Hill and Biggar each had a home run in the 3-2 victory.
2. (4) Park Vista (Lake Worth, Fla.), 28-2
The Cobras advanced to the Class 8A state semifinal against Columbus (Miami) with a 4-2 win over Douglas (Parkland).
Austin Smith got the win, giving up one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts.
3. (6) Oak Ridge (Conroe, Texas), 25-1
Luken Baker struck out six and gave up one hit in a 10-0 win over Pflugerville in the second round of the Class 6A state playoffs. Oak Ridge won the second game 5-3.
4. (10) Canyon del Oro (Tucson, Ariz.), 31-2
Canyon del Oro advanced to the Division II state championship game with an 8-5 victory over Tucson High Magnet School. The Dorados will face Tucson again in the state championship game on Tuesday.
5. (12) South Caldwell (Hudson, N.C.), 26-0
South Caldwell opened the first two rounds of the North Carolina Class 4A state playoffs with wins, as it beat Porter Ridge (Indian Trail) 8-1 and West Forsyth (Clemmons) 3-2. South Caldwell faces Providence (Charlotte) in the third round on Tuesday.
6. (13) San Dimas (Calif.), 28-0
San Dimas completed the regular season undefeated with a 13-0, 3-2 sweep of Wilson (Hacienda Heights).
Jacob Castillo allowed just two hits and struck out 12 in the shutout win while
Peter Lambert struck out 15 in the latter game to up his season record to 11-0.
7. (3) Dallas Jesuit (Texas), 29-2-2
The Rangers lost their second game of the season but still managed to get past Rowlett 1-0, 0-1, 5-0 in the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs.
Darius Hill knocked in the only run in the 1-0 victory and
Nic Ready had a home run in the 5-0 win.
8. (7) Alexander (Laredo, Texas), 25-2
Alexander lost its second game of the season, but managed to get past Edinburg North in three games to advance to the third round of the Class 6A state playoffs. Alexander lost the first game 4-3, but won the next two 11-5 and 12-2.
9. (11) Oxford (Miss.), 33-1
Oxford saw its undefeated season come to an end, but it still advanced to the Class 5A state championship game against George County after beating New Hope 3-2, 0-1, 10-3 in the semifinals.
Ben Bianco had a home run in the 3-2 win while
Jack McClure and
Jason Barber each hit one out in the 10-3 victory.
10. (15) Flower Mound (Texas), 28-4
Flower Mound advanced to the third round of the Class 5A state playoffs with a 5-2, 10-6 sweep of Trinity (Euless).
Sean Wymer struck out 10 in the 5-2 victory while
Sean Holehouse had a double and home run in the 10-6 win.
11. (16) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 32-3
The Gaels won the Division I state championship with three wins last week, including a 6-5 victory over Green Valley in the championship game.
Cadyn Grenier had a walkoff solo home run to win in it in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Gaels defeated Reno 10-2 in the first round and Arbor View 12-2 in the semifinals.
12. (17) O'Connor (Helotes, Texas), 23-2-1
The Panthers lost their second game of the season but managed to advance to the third round of the Class 5A state playoffs with a 4-0, 1-3, 2-0 series win over McArthur (San Antonio).
David Worrell struck out 11 in the 4-0 shutout while allowing just two hits.
13. (18) JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), 25-4-1
The Lions took three in a row from defending Southern Section Division I champion Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita), winning 9-5, 4-2 and 8-7.
14. (20) Buford (Ga.), 30-2
Buford advanced to the semifinals of the Class 4A state tournament with an 8-5, 10-0 sweep of Locust Grove. Buford will face Cartersville in the semifinals.
15. (24) Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), 22-1
The Ironmen won four more last week, topping Fair Lawn 7-3, Teaneck 8-7, Poly Prep Country Day 4-3 and Paramus 8-0.
16. (25) College Park (Pleasant Hill, Calif.), 20-4
College Park concluded the regular season with a 13-0, 32-0 sweep of Mt. Diablo (Concord).
Willie MacIver hit three triples in the first game while
Nick Oar and
Noah Burnham each had five hits in the second game.
17. (26) Boca Raton (Fla.), 23-3
Season over.
18. (29) Farragut (Knoxville, Tenn.), 37-6
The Admirals won three playoff games last week, beating Karns 10-3, Hardin Valley Academy 4-2 and Science Hill 3-2.
19. (30) Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati), 25-3
The Crusaders topped Middletown 7-0 with
Grant Macciocchi throwing a no-hitter.
20. (31) Whitewater (Fayetteville, Ga.), 27-5
Whitewater got past North Hall (Gainesville) 8-2 and 10-1 to reach the Class 4A state semifinals, where it will face Veterans (Kathleen).
21. (2) Olympia (Orlando, Fla.), 27-2
The Titans saw their season come to an end with a 7-1 loss to University (Orange City) in the Class 8A quarterfinals.
22. (NR) Archbishop McCarthy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 27-5
The Mavericks won their fifth state title in school history with a 3-0 win over Mosley (Lynn Haven) in the Class 5A state finals.
23. (9) Mosley (Lynn Haven, Fla.), 28-4
Mosley knocked off Citrus 5-2 in the semifinals of the Class 5A state playoffs, but fell to Archbishop McCarthy (Fort Lauderdale) 3-0 in the state championship game.
24. (34) Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.), 27-4
The Bears won their first Central Section Division I playoff game, beating Clovis North 9-1 in the second round.
25. (37) Edwardsville (Ill.), 29-1
Edwardsville won three times last week, beating O'Fallon 8-5, South Central 9-1 and Granite City 13-0.

26. (44) Venice (Fla.), 29-3
Venice captured the Class 6A state championship with a 5-0 win over Bartram Trail. Venice also defeated Mater Academy Charter 3-2 in the semifinals.
27. (45) Saint Francis (Mountain View, Calif.), 25-5
The Lancers won the WCAL tournament with a 3-1 win over Archbishop Mitty (San Jose). Saint Francis also defeated Sacred Heart Cathedral (San Francisco) 9-1 and St. Ignatius (San Francisco) 4-0.
28. (35) College Station (Texas), 24-7-1
College Station moved into the third round of the playoffs by beating Magnolia 10-3 and 2-0.
29. (NR) Barbe (Lake Charles, La.) 34-10
The Buccaneers won their second-straight Class 5A state championship by beating Sulphur 4-3 in the semifinals and Catholic (Baton Rouge) 6-1 in the finals.
30. (8) Sulphur (La.), 35-3
Sulphur saw its season come to an end with a 4-3 loss to defending state champion Barbe (Lake Charles) in the semifinals of the Class 5A state playoffs.
31. (NR) Chicago Mt. Carmel, 27-3
The Caravan split two games with St. Rita last week, losing 1-0 and winning 5-4.
32. (14) St. Rita (Chicago), 28-4
St. Rita lost a pair of games last week, falling to Brother Rice (Chicago) 3-2 and Chicago Mt. Carmel 5-4. St. Rita also defeated Chicago Mt. Carmel 1-0.
33. (28) Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio), 23-3
The Warriors defeated Highland 8-3 in a Division I sectional final. The Warriors also topped Southington Chalker 12-0, but lost to Archbishop Hoban 10-7 for their first league loss.
34. (32) Jasper (Ind.), 20-1
Jasper lost its first game of the season, 1-0 to Mt. Vernon. Jasper also defeated Southridge 10-0, Gibson Southern 9-1 and Evansville Harrison 14-6.
35. (33) Indianapolis Cathedral, 20-1
The Irish won four times last week, beating Indianapolis Manual 10-0, Cardinal Ritter 4-2, Bishop Chatard 2-1 and Park Tudor 7-0.
36. (40) Pearland (Texas), 26-4-1
Pearland advanced to the third round of the Class 6A state playoffs with a 5-4, 4-3 sweep of Kempner.
37. (41) Topsail (Hampstead, N.C.), 25-2
Topsail opened the Class 3A state playoffs with an 11-1 win over Cedar Ridge (Hillsborough) and a 6-2 win over Eastern Guilford (Gibsonville).
38. (46) Reagan (San Antonio), 28-4
Reagan defeated Ray (Corpus Christi) in a single-game playoff 3-0 to advance to the third round of the Class 6A state playoffs.
39. (47) Providence (Charlotte, N.C.), 25-3
Providence won twice in the Class 4A state playoffs, beating Reagan (Pfafftown) 9-1 and Roberson (Asheville) 15-3.
40. (49) Cullman (Ala.), 45-10
Cullman captured the Class 6A state championship with a 5-4, 2-3, 10-4 series win over Pelham.
41. (50) Deer Park (Texas), 27-2-1
Deer Park advanced to the third round of the Class 6A state playoffs with a 3-1, 4-2 series sweep of Friendswood.
42. (43) Walton (Marietta, Ga.), 28-4
Walton took two of three games from Mountain View (Lawrenceville), losing 5-4 before winning 5-2 and 8-7.
43. (19) Puyallup (Wash.), 20-4
The Vikings fell to South Kitsap (Port Orchard) 3-2 in the WCD Tournament after beating Decatur (Federal Way) 6-0 and Timberline (Lacey) 6-2.
44. (NR) Bay City Western (Auburn, Mich.), 22-2
Bay City Western is ranked No. 1 in the state of Michigan by the state coaches association.
45. (NR) Mesquite (Gilbert, Ariz.), 23-9
Mesquite advanced to the Division I state championship game against Liberty (Peoria).
46. (NR) Liberty (Peoria, Ariz.), 29-5
Liberty defeated Hamilton (Chandler) 2-1 to advance to the Division I state championship game against Mesquite.
47. (NR) Owasso (Okla.), 28-5
Owasso defeated Westmoore 9-8 for the Class 6A state championship.
48. (38) Catholic (Baton Rouge, La.), 37-5
Catholic advanced to the state final with a 1-0 win over Brother Martin, but fell to Barbe 6-1 in the Class 5A state final.
49. (NR) Wadsworth (Ohio), 25-0
Wadsworth is ranked No. 2 in Division I by the Ohio Baseball Coaches Association.
50. (NR) Pleasant Grove (Utah), 24-2
Pleasant Grove defeated Jordan 11-2 to advance to the third round of the Class 5A state playoffs.
